The method

Four steps, in this order. That's the whole thing.

Updated August 2026 · by Ali Camur

Every guide below is a piece of one method, and the order is what makes it work. Negotiate in writing. A phone call leaves no record and a showroom leaves you outnumbered — email puts the dealer's numbers in a form they have to stand behind, and it lets you talk to six stores in the time it takes to visit one.

Get the out-the-door price in writing. Not the monthly payment, not "around thirty-two", not a sale price with fees to be determined later. A real OTD quote is itemized: selling price, doc fee, sales tax, title and registration. Anything else on that sheet is a line you did not agree to.

Compare apples-to-apples. Same trim, same options, same ZIP code for tax. Once every quote is a single itemized total, the cheapest one is obvious in about ten seconds — and the ones padded with add-ons stop hiding behind a lower advertised price.

Then walk in to sign. By the time you're at a desk, the price is already settled and the only job left is checking that the contract matches the email. That's the entire method. The guides just fill in what to say at each step.
